The 8th edition of Big 5 Construct Kenya opened on Tuesday at the Sarit Expo Centre, drawing a vibrant mix of construction professionals, government officials, and innovators from across the globe. The three-day exhibition, which runs until November 7, has brought together more than 150 exhibitors from over 20 countries, highlighting the latest technologies and solutions shaping Kenya’s rapidly evolving construction sector.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Giuseppe Manenti, Director of the Nairobi Office at the Italian Trade Agency, commended the event for its contribution to economic growth and industrial advancement.
“This platform strengthens trade ties and encourages innovation that will help deliver Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals,” he said.
He was joined by Kareem Hamdy, Counsellor of Egypt to Kenya; Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President of dmg events; and Tracy-Lee Behr, Event Director at dmg events, reflecting the strong international collaboration driving the built environment.
Heijmans noted that the level of engagement underscored optimism about Kenya’s construction outlook.
“The energy across the halls today reflects the optimism and growth potential within Kenya’s construction sector. Over the next three days, we look forward to productive exchanges and partnerships that will drive sustainable infrastructure development,” she said.
The exhibition floor showcased a range of innovations—from heavy machinery and foundation engineering to sustainable materials and smart building systems. German firm Bauer presented its specialist foundation engineering technologies, while Liebherr Group unveiled advanced machinery solutions. Ejot Fixing Solutions demonstrated roofing and solar installation fastening systems, and Max Truder showcased modern precast concrete systems. Other notable exhibitors, including Maurer and NORMA Group, featured structural and vibration control technologies designed for efficient and eco-conscious construction.
In parallel, the Big 5 Talks series kicked off with robust participation, offering insights on project management and sustainable development. Whitney Mugo, Project Manager at Synergetic Development Group, opened the sessions by emphasizing the importance of aligning projects with national priorities.
A panel moderated by Dr Jennifer Wambua, Vice President of Education and Professional Development at PMI Kenya Chapter, examined sustainable project delivery. Experts including Kennedy Otieno of Mi Vida Homes and Wilma Odalo from the Kenya Green Building Society discussed strategies for meeting EDGE and LEED certification standards while maintaining cost efficiency.
Supported by partners such as PMI Kenya, Kenya Green Building Council, and KABCEC, Big 5 Construct Kenya 2025 reaffirms the country’s position as a growing hub for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable construction in the region.
