Coopertaive bank teller charged with Sh2.5million theft

A teller at the Cooperative Bank was has charged at the Milimani Law Courts with stealing Ksh. 2.5 million at the financial institution.
Prosecution Counsel Judy Koech, told the court that the accused person, namely Joseph Musembi Mutuku, on diverse dates between 1st May 2022 and 30th December, 2023 at the Co-operative Bank Of Kenya Massai Mall Branch in Ongata Rongai within Kajiado county, being an employee of the said bank, stole the amount which came to his possession by virtue of employment.
Mutuku denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Hon. Gilbert Shikwe and pleaded for lenient bond terms.
Shikwe directed the accused person to be released on a bond of Ksh. 500,000 with two surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh. 300,000. with two contact persons.
The case is scheduled for mention on 25th July 2024.
