A man has been arraigned in Court over allegations of stealing more than Sh55 million from Afya Sacco Society Limited.

Patrick Muriithi Muthangya appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego, where he denied all charges against him.

According to the prosecution, Muriithi, together with others not before the court, conspired to steal Sh 55,649,000 from the Sacco on diverse dates between December 8, 2016, and November 1, 2021, at an undisclosed location.

In addition to the conspiracy charge, Muriithi is facing a second count of outright theft of the same amount from the financial institution.

The court granted him a bond of Sh3 million or an alternative cash bail of Sh1 million.

He is expected to return to court on May 5, 2025, for pre-trial proceedings.
