US-Based Couple Charged in Ksh 15 Million Fraud Case; Released on Ksh 500,000 Bail

A US based couple has been charged before a Milimani court with intent of defrauding Sh15 million.

David Nyamasyo Kitonga and Monica Ndunge Kitonga appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and denied the charge levelled to them.

According to the charge, on diverse dates between 1st of September 2023 and 24th of October 2023 at Mbiuni in Machakos county with intent to defraud, they jointly obtained from Gabriel Njenjere Chokera wooden timber valued at 15, 199 240 by falsely pretending that they were in a position to pay a fact they know to be false.

The complaint through his lawyer Henry kurauka informed the Court that the 2 have recently opened a resort at Machakos worthy over 1 billion the money they believe is a proceed of crime.

Kurauka also told the court that the accused persons are fright risk and, therefore, should be granted stringent bond terms.

The accused, through their lawyer, pleaded with the court to release them with reasonable bond terms, saying that they have invested heavily and so they are not fright risk.

However, the prosecution did not oppose them being released on bail, and the court released them on a cash bail of ksh 500 hundred thousand or a bond of 1 million each.
